I’m in the process of writing a book (although very slowly) and have been thinking for a while now about both: publishing the book and giving it away for free online. This sounds counter-intuitive to most capitalists but those naysayers are of the old-school world of media and brand.

Cory Doctorow, of EFF and BoingBoing, says it all in a Forbes article titled Giving it Away.

Let’s see, what books can I think of that were published in this fashion. To keep the list honest we have to ignore those books published under the Gutenberg Project.

Can you recommend any?

(This post follows on the heals of material goods purging done by my brother, and today by us.)
