My monkey and I really enjoy monkeying things. Imagine how one monkey picks at the fur of another. No, we don’t like eating bugs off each other but we do enjoy fussing with things.
Yesterday we spent some time peeling the strange coating of our kitchen table. The table is made of marble and has a strange (protective?) coating on top that looks ugly and bothers us both. So after dinner, and while chatting, we both took knives and carefully scraped away at it getting almost 50% of the table clean. You have to be careful so as not to scrape the marble which is very soft. (Marble is a calcite that ranks a 3 out of 10 on the measure of hardness scale. 10 being the hardest and 1 being the softest.)

Good! I was hopeing you would do something like that. The top coat look terrible.
After it is all removed, go to a tile shop and look for a top coat that is clear, and replace the old one you removed.
If you have the time, do it to the whole kitchen.
